The less competitive division will follow a round robin format where teams will receive 6 points for a win, 3 points for a draw, and 0 points for a loss. Additionally, they will receive 1 pt per goal scored (up to 3) and +1 for shutouts. Ties in ranking will be broken by goal differential (goals for minus goals against). The two teams with the most points will compete in a championship game and the two teams with the lowest points will compete for 3rd place. All teams will play 4 games total. The more competitive division will follow a modified double elimination bracket. Each team will play between 1-3 games on Saturday and 1-5 games on Sunday. All games that end in a tie will proceed straight to penalty kicks (5, alternating genders)

Registration Listing

2025 Winter Tournament

Annual HSL Winter tournament at Bear River Turf Field (outdoor) on the first weekend of January (4th-5th). Games will be co-ed (2+ women on the field), 8v8 with full size goals. There will be more- and less- competitive divisions.

Dates: January 4-5 (possibly a couple games night of the 3rd)
Location Bear River Sports Complex in Loleta
Format: 8v8 on a small field with full-size goals and goalies. Each team will play a guaranteed 3 games, and no more than 6. 
Co-ed Requirements: All genders are encouraged to play but at least two of the seven players on the field must be female

Registration Options:
Individual Registration: Players can sign up individually at $40 per person ($5 discount for students). 
First-come-first-serve: Secure your spot by having 8 players register. We want to accommodate as many teams as possible, but space is limited due to daylight and bracket-building constraints. To guarantee your spot, sign up early as registration will be on a first-come, first-served basis. 
 

Division Details:
More Competitive Division: For teams seeking a challenge at the highest level while still prioritizing recreation and fun.
Less Competitive Division: Open to players of all levels who want a weekend of enjoyable laid-back soccer. This division will focus on a "low-contact" style to ensure everyone's comfort and safety.

We expect to have 6 teams in the more competitive bracket and 4 in the less competitive bracket, but this is subject to change based on the preferences of the teams that sign up. 

Free Agent Information:
Free Agent Team: If you would like to play but don't have a team please share your information on our Free Agent Form. We share this list with team captains who can recruit players from it. If you are interested in forming a team with the other free-agents, please let us know and we can share the list with you to coordinate.

Game Rules and Regulations:
Referees: We expect to have one referee per game for regular play and two referees per game in playoffs in the more competitive bracket, and one referee per game for all less competitive games. 
Rules: Regular outdoor rules will apply (e.g. throw-ins, penalty kicks, goalkeeper rules,  etc.). A minimum of 2 female players must be on the field at all times. More detailed rules will be sent to registered players the week before the tournament.
